We are preparing for our first qualifier. Our artifact landed directly on the ramp. In the game, we understand from the game manual that it won’t count for points, but what happens with the mosaic?
I presume you mean PATTERN, since a MOSAIC isn’t a thing in this game.
The situation where an ARTIFACT is launched directly onto an ALLIANCE’S RAMP was addressed in Q&A Question 133 “Pattern Scoring.” The answer to the text of the Q&A is below:
If an ARTIFACT is LAUNCHED directly onto the RAMP by either ALLIANCE in violation of G419, a MAJOR FOUL per ARTIFACT is assessed to the offending ALLIANCE. PATTERN points will be awarded based on the ARTIFACTS that are directly on the RAMP at then end of the MATCH period per Section 10.5 and Section 10.5.2.
Additionally, if it is an opponent that puts an ARTIFACT directly onto a RAMP in violation of G419-B, PATTERN RP is awarded to the non-violating ALLIANCE, regardless of whether the PATTERN point threshold is met to achieve PATTERN RP. There is no PATTERN RP impact for a G419-A violation when a ROBOT intentionally places an ARTIFACT on their own RAMP, in which case PATTERN RP is awarded based on whether the PATTERN points earned during the MATCH meet the threshold specified in Section 10.5.4.
Note that intentionally and strategically violating the rules in an effort to play the rules and not play the game may be viewed by the REFEREES as egregious behavior under G211.
