Control hub battery jack

2 of our control hubs have loose power jacks. We were having intermittent power and connection issues that baffled us. I noticed the control hub power up when lifting the wire bundle. We replaced all the wires with no resolution. So the jack became the issue. We have a temporary solution with folded paper wedged between the 2 jacks and taped in place.

Has anyone had this issue? Is there a local fix that is more permanent? Is this a ship it off to Rev type of problem?

The best advice I can provide you are to read/review these two resources:

  1. FTC-Community Thread on Control Hub XT30 issues (where someone asked about using the motor ports, which you should NEVER DO, but the article gives advice on how to properly manage the connectors and community members provide additional advice):
Using Motor Port to Power Control/Expansion Hub

  2. REV also has a tutorial on how to un-compress your XT30 pins to restore your connection strength on the XT30 connector.
Expansion Hub Troubleshooting | DUO Control System

These two resources should provide you with what you need. PLEASE don’t do what you suggest you are doing, as a coach that makes me very nervous for your robot. It is like duct taping a camping trailer to your car’s trailer hitch instead of latching it on - it’s not a question of “if it will fail”, but more “when it will fail” and the answer is “soon.” If you have further questions feel free to reach out!

We are not doing as I suggested. It was merely a troubleshooting measure. I have borrowed a control hub for the time being. I will look at these sources. Thanks for the info!
