Just bringing this up here because I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere else:
On several of my hubs (and some teams I’ve worked with) we’re now starting to see messages of “The Driver Station app is obsolete. You should install the new version for this FTC season”, even though the Driver Hub is running 10.1.0 software. Photos below:
I know that 10.1.1 is released, but it’s an “optional” release. I’ve tried looking at an update via the REV Hardware Client but it shows “10.1” as the latest version and doesn’t seem to have 10.1.1 available.
That’s weird. Thanks for the report. Can you provide a view of your Robot Controller version? The obsolete warning does take both into account, even though it is very specific in its wording to the Driver Station.
The 10.1.1 release was only meant for Android Studio users, so there is no REV Hardware Client version available. There were no updates for Blocks or OnBot Java users.
What date is your Driver Hub set to? Please look at the Settings->Date&Time (or similar). Driver hubs are, by default, set two years in the future and this is one of the behaviors when that happens.
It was part of REV’s usage plan that teams would connect to the internet to update the software on the device, including the driver station app, via the onboard software updater. That’s why the driver hub nags users about connecting to the internet. However, in practice, most teams use the REV Hardware Client (except for Mac/Linux teams) instead and so no automatic time update is applied.
So, is the correct answer to connect the Driver Hub to the public internet long enough for it to get a network time update? Or, short of that, set the date/time manually in settings?
(Also, perhaps the REV Hardware Client could set the date/time somehow as part of installing/upgrading the app, although that’s perhaps not a trivial change to make.)
