Looking to start an FTC team for 2026-2027 season. From a hardware perspective, what platform makes the most sense(REV, Robits, etc.)? I think we’ll got with REV control but what hardware has good longevity and parts abundance?
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the build kits that are commonly available - REV, goBILDA, Robits, Studica. They all have their own particular niche for the way different people build robots. I personally use a lot of chain drive systems, so I find REV’s rail extrusion to fit me the best. I have three FTC teams, and two use REV and one uses Robits - my rookie team finds the Robits system to be incredibly easy to use, and AndyMark has been actively developing the Robits system. At the same time, a lot of advanced teams swear by the goBILDA ecosystem. goBILDA has been doing the fastest innovation in odometry systems and products that most teams use regardless of the build system you use. Studica has been incredibly popular in Canada, and is a lot easier to buy components from if you’re a Canadian team.
Thanks for that insight. AndyMark is in our backyard, essentially, so that makes sense for us. Just have to dive in and get going.
